Ethan Brookie Fishing
I am excited to share with you my most recent work. It was commissioned by a dear friend of mine as a Christmas gift for a family member. The picture is of my friends nephew fishing for Brook trout somewhere in Idaho. I found it to be such a sweet picture of a little boy standing in grass that is nearly as tall as he is. The landscape is so familiar to me as we have spent so much time in the forests of Idaho. It was a joy to paint, not only because of the beautiful scene but also because it contained within it a lasting memory for the family it was intended for. This is why I love what I do so much.
The first image below is of the original picture. The moment I saw it I was excited by the challenge ahead of me.
It was my goal to try and bring some more color to enhance the painting. I added some warmer colors to the landscape and cooler colors to the water and the trees in the distance. I used my stylus to paint the entire scene. The painting took 22 hours to complete.
My friend decided on an 11x14 size and we had it printed on masonite. It drops nicely right in a frame. I absolutely love this painting!
(Unfinished post, more pictures to come soon!)

February Updates
Well, I thought things would slow down in January but I was wrong! The craziness just continued from the holidays! My plans for this website had to be set aside for a little while but now I'm back and hope to get some things done.
Three items of business to announce.
One: I finally fixed my price list and it is now available to view here. It is not totally finished as I have more products to add to it but it feels good to kind of mark that off my list.
Two: I have a project that I painted for a friend over the holidays and I am dying to show it too you! I will unveil it on Facebook and write up the story on it this week! It turned out better than I hoped and I love it so much that it's now on my wall!
Three: The Giveaway! I'm sorry to say that last months giveaway didn't work as planned and the request I received was at the end of the month so it wasn't done in time. I'm also realizing I'm not the best at blogging in a timely matter which makes giveaways a little harder for me to write about. But that's OK! The Giveaway's I had planned for this year might be best utilized as coupons anyway and that is something I will be working on.
Well, that's it for now. More art coming soon! Thanks for sticking with me!

A New Year Brings Fun New Things- A Giveaway!
Happy New Year everyone!
I hope this year is the beginning of new things for you! It will be for me as I endeavor to make some changes to Cherished Memories Fine Art. I have made some new plans that will be introduced throughout the year.
The first thing I want to introduce is a monthly giveaway. The purpose is twofold. One is to bless people with a personal portrait and the second is to build up my portfolio.
There will be a new category every month in which you can enter your favorite image to be painted. I will use a random number generator to determine the winner. If only one person enters, well, then, you win!!
Rules when entering giveaways. Each month I will post the category in which the painting will be done in. For instance, if the category is dogs, I will be expecting a photo from you with a dog in it. Be creative and have fun with it! The winner will receive an email from me requesting your photo and I will ask you some questions about your tastes and what your looking for in a painting. Attach a high quality photograph, or several photographs if you need any help with choosing the best one. Make sure that your photo is of high resolution. Your painting will take 2-4 weeks to complete. Longer if it is very detailed or I receive an order for a commissioned piece. When I am finished, I will post your painting online in my portfolio and you will receive a free print in the mail (hand delivered if you are local). The print size is determined each month with each new giveaway. Your painting will not be sold by me. The soul purpose is to provide more paintings to showcase in my portfolio. Your painting may be used on my websites, in advertising and in possible showings or contests. To enter: Basically, I am going to have each entrant post a comment as their entry for the giveaway. In order to make it easy for you to make a comment, I will ask a simple question for you to answer. There are no right or wrong answers. The entrants are assigned a number when they comment based on the order they are received and the numbers go into a random number generator. You will have a chance to enter more than once by following the directions in the Giveaway.
Additional information: The giveaway is for 1 print. There is no charge for work done on the painting. Shipping charges will only apply in special circumstances. Additional products may be purchased after the initial giveaway is over.
To enter the January giveaway:
The category for the month of January is Animals! (a broad topic to get us started)
The winner will receive a free 5x7 print.
For 1 entry, comment below with the answer to this question. "What is your New Years Resolution this year?"
To receive a 2nd entry, "like" my facebook page, then come back here and comment again that you "liked" it. If you already "liked" my facebook page, go ahead and comment that you "liked" it.
The winner will be announced Friday, January 6th.
Good Luck!

Moe and Sherbet
Christmas was filled with creativity this year! One of the paintings I finished was a portrait of two rabbits who belong to my niece. She breeds Mini Lops as a hobby and recently bred one of her female Lops to a Lionhead Buck and Moe was one of four cute little baby bunnies. Moe sports a hefty mane around her head, a common trait for the Lionhead/Mini Lop or "Lion Lop".
The Mini Lop in the painting is a new young Buck named "Sherbet". When my niece got him, he was lonely and depressed so she brought Moe to keep him company and they became fast friends.
Here is the original picture.

They are so cute snuggled up to each other!
The painting was added to their collection of Bunny art on the wall. I will definitely be adding more of these cute rabbits to my portfolio. They are adorable!

About Cherished Memories and Future Plans
Recently I have had the pleasure of creating a piece of artwork in which the subject meant a lot to the recipient. It was presented as a wedding gift and was so well received; it spurred me to begin creating personal art pieces.
The Chicken House 2011
Cherished Memories Fine Art was born from the desire to preserve lifelong memories of the things you cherish. The focus is on things that mean something special to the recipient. Some ideas might be a painting of a childhood home, a special pet, graduation day, first car or motorcycle, engagement portrait, wedding portrait, or a new baby. Other suggestions might be a portrait from a special day or event like a camping trip, balloon races or the fair. Pictures of family members doing things like planting a garden, making a snowman, gathering eggs or reading a book together would make a very traditional looking painting on the wall. The ideas are endless. A really great picture taken of people you love can make a nice fine art wall hanging. Let your imagination soar!
Contact me if you would like to have a special piece of art created for you.
Follow "Kelley Gruver Fine Art" on Facebook and receive notices on special promotions. Each month, starting in January, I will be holding a giveaway to expand my portfolio. One person each month will get to have their favorite scene painted for free and will receive 1 free print! (size to be determined). The painting will be displayed on my website to complete the portfolio.
Thank you for your support!
