I am excited to share with you my most recent work. It was commissioned by a dear friend of mine as a Christmas gift for a family member. The picture is of my friends nephew fishing for Brook trout somewhere in Idaho. I found it to be such a sweet picture of a little boy standing in grass that is nearly as tall as he is. The landscape is so familiar to me as we have spent so much time in the forests of Idaho. It was a joy to paint, not only because of the beautiful scene but also because it contained within it a lasting memory for the family it was intended for. This is why I love what I do so much.
The first image below is of the original picture. The moment I saw it I was excited by the challenge ahead of me.
It was my goal to try and bring some more color to enhance the painting. I added some warmer colors to the landscape and cooler colors to the water and the trees in the distance. I used my stylus to paint the entire scene. The painting took 22 hours to complete.
My friend decided on an 11x14 size and we had it printed on masonite. It drops nicely right in a frame. I absolutely love this painting!
(Unfinished post, more pictures to come soon!)
